Who says machado stays at SS, by him moving to SS it opens up almost every team in the league that can ink him. Regardless, of the switch every team is going to look into machado. I can see the Yankees just driving up the cost to sign him as they focus on pitching and Harper. The only way I see machado in pinstripes is if he is traded at the deadline and puts his name on long term contract now and not later, ultimately having the Yankees fold on Harper next year. It would also mean didi either moves to 3b or somewhere in the OF.

Why are people still discussing this? The Yankees have an excellent third baseman who works for minimum wage. Ditto at 2B. Gregorius is one of the best at SS and if he leaves in 2020 Torres will take over. Unless Machado wants to play 2B there is no room for him.

Finally someone’s making sense the Yankees aren’t signing either one

While Machado is more talented than the Yankees have with Didi and Andujar, those two players combined are cheaper in the long run than trading for and extending Machado. Yanks will spend their money and prospects on top end starters as a priority instead.
